Hypertension

About The Study

Many people who have high blood pressure (hypertension) also have high levels of aldosterone. Aldosterone is a hormone that helps regulate your body’s fluid levels and blood pressure. High levels of aldosterone can cause high blood pressure. High levels can also contribute to heart, kidney, and blood vessel damage and patients with uncontrolled hypertension have a higher risk of stroke and heart attack than those who do not have high blood pressure.

HALO is a clinical research study for adults taking 1 medication for hypertension (high blood pressure) and who may have high levels of a hormone called aldosterone. The goal of the study is to find out if the study drug can safely lower blood pressure.  Reducing aldosterone may reduce the amount of sodium and water in the blood and lead to lower blood pressure.

Eligibility Criteria

  •  You already take 1 medication for high blood pressure.
